“Every decision is an opportunity to influence with design.” -tbarlo
I’m an over thinker, that loves tinker with tech, processes, and pretty much anything that I think can be improved. Born and raised in Michigan, I was surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the inland lakes, forest, dunes, and islands. With access to all of that and more, Michiganders tend not to travel too far, too frequently. I however have always been propelled by my curiosity to explore the unfamiliar.
That same curiosity lead me to the big city of Chicago. During my 12 years living in various areas, I gained experience in sales, real estate, management, small business development, and earned a bachelors of industrial design with a minor degree in photography from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). My passion for both design and photography are equal in weight, but different greatly in terms of process.
Immediately after graduation my amazing wife Jamie, was offered a position in Hawaii that we simply could not pass up. Our adventures have put us on two different islands, and three cities, we ended up settling down in a historic plantation house built in the 1940’s, on the foothills of the West Maui mountains. Living the Hawaii life is as spectacular as you would imagine, but for reasons you can’t, which was such a surprise. Hawaii’s people, culture, isolation, and engagement with nature are overwhelming. For some its too much, for us it’s just right.
